Middle School Curriculum at WIS
Middle School
As our students move into the Middle School at GEMS Wellington International School, they start to access subject specialists in every area of their learning. This transitional period is an incredibly important part in our students’ learning journey, which is why we offer a holistic curriculum that promotes a love of learning.

Meet The Head Of Middle School
I have a deep and genuine commitment to the wellbeing and development of every student at WIS and to the journey they undertake with us. The Middle School structure plays a key role in supporting students as they transition from a primary learning environment to the greater independence and expectations of secondary schooling, ensuring they feel supported and confident.
I strongly believe that students gain the most from their school experience when they engage with the wide range of opportunities and the Beyond the Curriculum programme that our school offers. Education is about more than academic results; it is reflected in the relationships students build, the skills they develop and the experiences that shape their learning journey.

As our students move into the Middle School at GEMS Wellington International School, they start to access subject specialists in every area of their learning. This transitional period is an incredibly important part in our students’ learning journey, which is why we offer a holistic curriculum that promotes a love of learning. We ensure that we actively engage our students in independent study, cross-curricular development and effective collaboration with one another, to help them reach their true potential in an enjoyable and inspirational way. We believe that the students in our Middle School need this specialist teaching in order to feel appropriately challenged and we have found that this motivates them to achieve great things.
Our Pastoral Programme affiliates every student with one of our 4 Houses, which provides them with a sense of identity, promoting the family-feel nature that resonates throughout the whole of WIS. This programme ensures that we have the well-being of our students at the forefront of everything that we do, as they receive daily pastoral support from their form tutors, as well as regular support from their Head of House and Deputy Head of House.
Both the Specialist Teaching Model and the Pastoral Programme prepares the students in the Middle School well for their transition into the Upper School.
