Louise Horkan

Assistant Headteacher -Year 1-4 Student Culture and Experience

With currently 10 years’ experience working in a Primary School setting, I joined GEMS Wellington International School in 2017 when I made my first move to Dubai, after teaching in an Outstanding school in the UK. I have a BA (Hons) degree in Economics and Geography from the National University of Ireland, Galway and then proceeded to complete a PGCE in Canterbury University.

In my previous role as Head of Year 2, I supported the social, personal and development of my team and students. I am thrilled to be moving into the Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher of Student Culture and Experience. My journey in my educational career has led me to become an ambitious and highly skilled leader who looks to develop the opportunities that are offered to students, staff, and parents at WIS. I look to embed a range of pastoral programs, whilst leading student culture in an effective and impactful manner. I await the opportunity to working alongside parents and stakeholders in planning many high-quality parental engagement events for everyone in the WIS community.
