Scarlett Elkins

Head of Year 2

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic primary teacher with 10 years of experience and am proud to be in my fourth year at WIS. From 2012 to 2016, I studied Primary Education at the University of Winchester in the United Kingdom, where my love for teaching and learning truly began. During this time, I gained Qualified Teacher Status, a bachelor’s degree in Primary Education and a Master’s Certificate in Education before embarking on my teaching career.

I have spent the majority of my career working within Key Stage 1 and have had the wonderful opportunity to teach Year 2 in England, Spain and Dubai. These international experiences have given me a deep understanding of young learners and the learning journeys they undertake, regardless of setting. They have also shaped my approach to teaching and strengthened my belief in supporting children not only as learners, but as individuals.

During my time at WIS, I have taught both Years 1 and Year 2, allowing me to feel truly at home within the Lower School and to gain valuable insight into the daily experiences of our youngest learners. I am delighted to have stepped into the role of Head of Year 2, where I feel privileged to make a direct and positive impact on the wellbeing and learning of our students.

I have a strong passion for English and greatly enjoyed leading this subject as Curriculum Lead at WIS for two years, working closely with colleagues to inspire a love of reading, writing and language across the school. I believe in creating a happy, nurturing classroom where children feel safe, valued and excited to learn. It is a privilege to be part of the WIS community and I am committed to supporting every child in developing confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
