Rakhee Patel

Head of Year 5

I have been part of GEMS Education since 2014, joining WIS in 2021 as a Year 3 Teacher. With over 11 years of teaching experience across Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, the core of my teaching approach is the belief that children flourish when they feel inspired, valued and supported. I am passionate about fostering a positive and nurturing classroom environment where learning is engaging, enjoyable and every child feels confident to achieve their best. I believe that excellent teaching is not about giving instructions - it is about igniting curiosity and joy through meaningful, creative experiences.

Before completing my PGCE with the University of Sunderland, I gained a BA (Hons) in Law, a Master’s Degree in International & Comparative Business Law and the Legal Practice Course in the UK.

I started my career in the legal field, which provided me with a strong foundation in leadership, problem-solving and critical thinking. These experiences have greatly influenced my teaching practice, helping me to become a more reflective, organised and effective educator, while bringing a structured and thoughtful approach to supporting every child’s learning and development.

I am looking forward to building strong relationships with both the children and their families as Head of Year 5 and supporting every student to thrive at school.
