Erand Jonuzi
Head of Year 9
With a decade of experience in Physical Education across the UK and UAE, I am a dedicated and experienced PE teacher at GEMS Wellington International School. I hold a degree in Physical Education and Sport and QTS. I teach Physical Education across Lower, Middle and Upper School, including GCSE PE, and am committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive provision that promotes lifelong fitness, accountability, and personal ownership of learning.
Alongside my teaching role, I am proud to serve as Head of Year 9, where I lead the pastoral, element of the year group at a pivotal stage in their secondary education. I oversee student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement, working closely with form tutors, subject teachers, curriculum leaders, safeguarding teams, and senior leaders to ensure the year group feels supported and challenged to prepare students for the transition into Key Stage 4 by developing maturity, responsibility, and readiness for increased academic and personal expectations.
In addition, I am Head of Secondary Football and lead football and cricket extracurricular programmes across the school. I oversee participation in competitive fixtures including the DASSA League and Cup competitions, as well as the Dubai School Games. I have also organised whole-year sporting initiatives, including a Year 8 football tournament and a Year 9 dodgeball tournament, to enhance engagement, leadership, and community spirit through sport.
I specialise in football, health and fitness, and enjoy teaching a broad range of activities including rugby and volleyball. Through both my pastoral and sporting leadership, I am committed to developing confident, resilient, and respectful young people who take ownership of their actions and view physical activity and personal growth as lifelong pursuits.
