Jonathan Kane

Director of Business, Enterprise and Economics

I completed my degree in Business Management at the University of York before undertaking my PGCE in Sheffield. I began my teaching career in 2010, initially holding the role of Head of House before moving into subject leadership for Business and Economics. During this time, I also worked as Business and Enterprise Lead across a large multinational trust based in Sweden, where I developed innovative approaches to enterprise education.

Following this, I moved into pastoral leadership, serving as Head of Year before being promoted to Assistant Head Teacher for Behaviour and Attendance at a large secondary school in the UK. I then transitioned to one of the largest sixth form colleges in the country, where I held the role of Faculty Director for Business, Economics and IT, leading curriculum development and supporting outstanding outcomes for post-16 learners.

Now based in the UAE, I bring extensive experience in both academic and pastoral leadership, with a proven track record of driving student success and fostering a culture of high expectations.

After graduating from Nottingham Trent University, I have taught across the Primary years and moved to management two years ago. At WIS, I am incredibly excited to be Director of Innovation and Digital Technology; building on our outstanding digital provision to include robotics, artificial intelligence and virtual realities, to bring them to the forefront of education. My previous roles have included Digital Learning Leader, Computer Science lead and I am looking forward to building innovative ideas and new technologies into the heart of learning and the curriculum whilst creating digitally literate students.
