Rebecca Kennedy
Assistant Headteacher - Standards and Progress, Upper School
I joined GEMS Wellington International School in August 2011 as the Curriculum Leader for Physical Education. Ten Academic Years later, I have in that time moved from Curriculum Leader, Year Leader, Senior Leader and now Assistant Head. I have seen this school move from 'Very Good' to 'Outstanding' and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
I started my teaching journey studying a BA (Hons) in Physical Education at Liverpool John Moorse University. Through teaching PE, I was able to combine my love for sport and developing young people into healthy, happy young adults. My first seven years of teaching started in my home town of Scarborough, I was also very lucky to develop my passion for netball through coaching district netball teams and having very successful school teams who also played in the local ladies leagues. I still also play netball outside of school myself.
Within my role now I work to support our Upper School students in ensuring they attain the best grades possible. Our intervention programme, WISdom, has been successful in ensuring success for all. I am always so proud of the results our students attain and we are now the top inclusive school in Dubai. This is due to our fantastic students, diligent students and amazing parents.
