Nicholas Bruce

Deputy Head Teacher - Learning & Teaching

I believe that the creation and sustaining of relationships is at the core of successful education. I have been lucky to have had a varied career spanning fifteen years across both UK and International educational contexts, and have met incredible students and staff who have helped to enrich my professional practice. This is my seventh year at WIS, and I’m proud to have been a part of the school’s ongoing development into one of Dubai’s best international schools.

As a senior leader at WIS, my practice is driven by the development and realisation of student and staff potential. I bring my vision and skills of strategic thinking, effective goal-centred collaboration, professional communication and promoting students' wellbeing to my role as Deputy Headteacher. Every initiative and strategy across WIS has been collaboratively embedded to ensure that all students, staff and parents have the best possible learning experience, in the safest and most productive educational environment. I am also fortunate to have been involved in many extra-curricular activities including whole-school productions and concerts, another outstanding element to life at WIS. In terms of my own education, I am currently studying for an MA in Education at University College London, and am completing my dissertation on the creation and implementation of concept-based learning -  an aspect of education I find particular innovative and essential in developing our students as 21st-century thinkers.
