Ben Sharratt

Head of Lower School

Ben is currently Head of Lower School at GEMS Wellington International School, progressing from his previous role as Deputy Headteacher, responsible for Learning and Teaching across the Lower and Middle School. During his six-year tenure in Dubai, Ben has held the posts of Head of House, Head of Year, Assistant Headteacher and also Deputy Headteacher of a 3-18 World IB School before returning to GEMS this academic year to take up his post at GWIS.

For a large part of his teaching career Ben has been involved in school improvement, with a particular focus on raising standards in Learning, Teaching and Assessment practices within schools requiring rapid change and progress where, he acted as a lead and advisory teacher for Maths, Phonics and EAL. Ben is also currently working with the High-Performance Learning Program both at GWIS and across other GEMS schools where he leads and advises Teachers and Leaders in developing a ‘Performance Mindset’ and realizing the potential of all Students.
