New York Trip 2010

New York Trip Feb 2010

Day 1
Travelling to New York went well all students were excellently behaved some slept on the plane some talked some just watched films the whole time.  We reached JFK but were slightly delayed for an hour or so for immigration reasons. We did not go to Central Park as planned we were too tired so students settled into their rooms and washed up for dinner at the local diner.

Day 2
Students started the day with either an American breakfast or continental breakfast - pancakes; French toast etc. Then we went over to see Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island where we had lunch. Unfortunately we did not go up to the statue of liberty as the crown was closed but students took a lot of pictures of the whole experience there was opportunities for playing in the snow which went down well with a lot of the students although there was a lot of cold hands after that...
We then went around Wall Street with a guide who told us about the local history then she took us down to ground zero.  Century 21 was our final excursion for some shopping.

Day 3
We had our pictures taken with celebrities at Madame Tussauds and visited a snowy Time Square.

Day 4
We started the day with a brisk walk and a snowball fight in Central Park on our way to the Met Museum.  After lunch we visited nbc studios and ended the day on top of the Empire State Building (very cold).

Day 5
You will be glad to know we all recovered from being frozen on top of the Empire State Building and I'm sure it has been a little warmer today, the students aren't so sure.  In the morning we had to opportunity to explore Chine Town and Little Italy and also had time to take a stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge.  The afternoon was spent visiting the Apple Store and Greenwich Village where more retail therapy was carried out.  Everyone is looking forward to watching the Broadway show Lion King.

Day 6
Our last full day in the Big Apple, no one can quite believe how fast the time has gone and most would like to stay longer, although a couple are looking forward to getting back to Dubai as they are getting tired of the cold.  In the morning we visited the Sony Technology Lab, 6 students got to see stunning views of Manhattan whilst taking a helicopter ride, others managed to spend even more time shopping on 5th Avenue.  We enjoyed our last meal together before heading off to see Lion King on Broadway.  The show was stunning and we ended the evening arriving back to the hotel in style in a limo.

Day 7
Our final day in New York.  We had a relaxing morning walk through Central Park on our way to the Guggenheim Museum.  After the museum many had a hard task of repacking their suitcases with all the extras they had bought on the trip.  We are looking forward to putting our hats, scalves and gloves away and coming back to the warmer waters of Dubai.
