Sam Boyle Year Group Leader for Year 1
Hello, my name is Samantha Boyle, I moved to Sheffield from Aberdeen to gain a BA (Hons) in Primary Education specialising in Mathematics.
I have always wanted to be a teacher because I enjoy being with children and the decision to become a teacher 11 years ago was the one of the best decisions of my career. I believe in providing a happy and stress-free environment for children to work in, and one where they frequently feel valued and experience success no matter how big or small.
I am now in my 9th year of teaching which has been predominantly focused on Reception up to Year 2 classes. This year has been my 5th consecutive year teaching Year 2 and I feel I have gained tremendous experience and confidence in understanding expectations within Key Stage 1.
I have concentrated my professional development during the last three years on integration of the interactive whiteboard, developing thinking skills and maths co-ordination and have applied these teaching skills in the curriculum, providing greater creativity and links between subjects.
If I had to think of five words to describe myself they would be enthusiastic, energetic, caring, fun and motivated – all the strengths I feel that have helped me to be a better teacher in the classroom. My hobbies and interests include, frequent visits to the gym, cycling, walking, skiing (I can’t wait to visit the indoor ski slopes in Dubai!), travelling and socialising.
Teaching abroad has been a lifelong ambition so moving to Dubai and working at Wellington International School is a very exciting opportunity.
